In my research, I am particularly interested in programming multifarious parallel computing systems as well as 'exotic' architectures to achieve high performance and meet given energy consumption and power intake constraints. At SCAI, I work on inhouse as well as on clients' codes' optimization and on algorithm-parallelization for heterogeneous computing systems. These systems range from Desktop or even embedded systems up to high performance computing clusters. My main focus is on the optimization of code for shared memory usage and vector parallelism for massively parallel accelerators. In the particular field of remote sensing, I have, for example, worked on efficient multi-core and GPU implementations for “Aerosol Optical Depth” retrieval analyzing the performance potential and the energy footprint.
